Hydrogen, one of the world’s most abundant natural resources, is growing as an efficient and sustainable energy source that leverages one third less energy than gasoline. To be used as fuel, hydrogen gas is compressed at pressures ranging from 350 to 700 bar then distributed through a dispenser, like a gasoline or petrol dispenser, into a vehicle tank. In addition to hydrogen dispensing, there’s also a growing demand for truck delivery of high-pressure hydrogen as refueling stations may not be located close to hydrogen production facilities.
Due to the high pressures and/or sub-zero temperatures needed to contain hydrogen, both its storage and dispensing can be challenging.
